The "unknow...You're certainly right, Ashe. The "unknown," or the "forbidden," are surely hot, especially if the relationship will also piss off your parents! (Not that I speak from experience or anything...wink!) But to have an enduring relationship, a candle in your metaphor, you have to have enough commonality to be good friends, as well as lovers. Life is not lived in bed, even though when young, we'd certainly like to spend all of our time there! Life is spent together in the many prosaic and downright boring events, like going to work every day. And you get involved with each other's families. That requires being able to get along as relatives, with what were once total strangers, and with whom you might have very little in common. Nice metaphor.
