I've always smiled a little at your aunt following an indian guru because that was so typical of that time.

I love hearing about the real world stuff like this first kiss.

GarceGarceushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11160407485298015371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-7753852063625954432010-12-19T15:57:04.430-05:002010-12-19T15:57:04.430-05:00Great post, Lisabet! There's a wealth of information about it - it has played a role in many cultures and also, apparently, is treated by some people as medicinal (although the berries are poisonous).

Thanks for dropping by!

Warmly,
LisabetLisabet Saraihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05162514190572269660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-38077428492445916972010-12-19T08:16:02.316-05:002010-12-19T08:16:02.316-05:00Hi, Craig,

Some of it probably came about because it's not only evergreen, but also semi-parasitical on trees rather than having roots in the earth - though it's also now recognised as a 'keystone species' that supports healthy biodiversity in a range of ways. In the UK it has had a long association with pagan/celtic beliefs, and those belliefs are possibly deeper and wiser that we give them credit for today!Fulanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14959628434559905605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-33427194887155364772010-12-19T05:36:50.966-05:002010-12-19T05:36:50.966-05:00Lisabet,

The descriptions, both of your Christmas French kiss, and the literary one under the mistletoe are both delicious.

Excellent post.Craig Sorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08101869420537661374noreply@blogger.com
