Fascinating reading which demolishes many of the things that people think they "know" about the Marquis.

In 2000 we spent 10 amazing days in Provence, France. For me, one of the high points was a visit to La Coste, the Marquis' ancestral village. The village is still there -- a tumble of medieval-era stone houses crawling up a steep hillside--but de Sade's manor is in ruins. This was not long after I published Raw Silk -- I felt that, as a BDSM author, I was making a pilgrimage.

Warmly,
LisabetLisabet Saraihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05162514190572269660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-71313158350778785262010-03-05T01:32:43.129-05:002010-03-05T01:32:43.129-05:00Garce,

The Marquis de Sade. Its interesting ...Hi Ashley!

The Marquis de Sade. Its interesting he was sent to prison for being a moderate. Kind of reminds me of politics in America these days.

As a movie lover you MUST have seen "Quills". That was such a good movie. There was a man who felt he had to write or die. And you can tell when an actor is having fun with a role and Geoffrey Rush was just chewing on the scenery.

Really unique post. Its actually very hard to find information on the Marquis. I've always wondered wha the deal was with him since I saw the movie.

Garce
"If mother nature didn't want me to tickle my own fancy, she would not have provided me with two industrious hands.
