I do wish I could have been a sculptor, but I don't have the talent (or dexterity) for the visual and tactile arts. I keep on being drawn to characters who do, though. In my two most recent stories (one out now, one not yet) I have a stone carver incarcerated in a prison (for the anthology Sex Behind Bars) and an artist who creates demonic figures out of scraps from old farm machinery while another character is into rock climbing (in Don't Be Shy.)

Ah, the places we writers can go and the people we can be! And once I stayed in a motel just outside the Park. The first two times, even though they were a decade apart, I had a toddler to keep track of, so that limited my adventures considerably. The third time I was with one of the ex-toddlers now full grown, which was great, but our third companion was on the verge of developing both acrophobia and heat stroke, so that was a bit limiting, too. I really hope to go back some time, though that's not too limey, and if I did, by that time--well, already, in fact--my knees would be in no shape for extra-intensive adventures (of the climbing kind--sex would still be okay.) Still, sex is probably a better response to that feeling than anything else I can think of.
