Thanks for commentin...Kathleen, Lisabet and Garce,

Thanks for commenting. I would call it an erotic historical romance (there is actually much explicit sex in it). As far as I know, there was never a society of Green Men, but apparently green is one of the colors that were traditionally associated with "the love that dare not speak its name." (Lavender eventually became better-known.) If there were no gay refugees from Her Majesty's Navy, there should have been! At sea, the captain served as police, judge and jury, and any man unlucky enough to be caught could be hanged from the mast immediately, and his corpse would then be thrown overboard. All this in a time when women on a ship were considered unlucky, and ships could be at sea for months. (I don't have a link handy, but there is on-line info about this, including a disturbing description of one of the last shipboard hangings for "sodomy.")Jean Robertahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08805088081675965859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-88230073146101919392012-07-28T10:19:03.661-04:002012-07-28T10:19:03.661-04:00Tingley-Jones?
