I'm not sure I know anymore what the lines are between graphic sex and erotica. I do believe there's value in classifying things, but I think the value judgments that often come with these words get to me a bit.

In any case, I love your excerpts, and I really love that line about you being the Anne Rice of m/m vampire fiction. Congrats on that! :)Annabeth Leonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07455191827664110878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-28867809366422649402015-09-05T02:09:32.719-04:002015-09-05T02:09:32.719-04:00Those are good examples of explicit/graphic vs. er...Those are good examples of explicit/graphic vs. erotic. The second excerpt definitely suggests some explicitness to come!Jean Robertahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08805088081675965859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-30058962384570130062015-09-04T08:29:39.417-04:002015-09-04T08:29:39.417-04:00I liked both these excerpts, JP -- and I'd cat...I liked both these excerpts, JP -- and I'd categorize both as erotic, despite the difference in mood and level of detail. I agree with Daddy and Fiona, the labels don't really matter. It's the emotion that counts. Both excerpts dwell on the emotional effects of attraction (and of acting on that attraction).

"The Anne Rice of M/M vampire fiction!" Wow! That's quite a compliment. I think you should start using that as your tag-line.

And btw, in my opinion, the Vampire Chronicles are intensely erotic, even though they don't include much graphic sexual description. They fairly drip with desire.Lisabet Saraihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05162514190572269660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-75075610110523696702015-09-02T14:38:23.112-04:002015-09-02T14:38:23.112-04:00I think that erotica includes graphic sex more oft...I think that erotica includes graphic sex more often than not; maybe the difference between erotica and porn (or whatever other term one uses) is that erotica doesn't have to have graphic sex in order to be erotic. (But label a book erotica, and most readers are going to be disappointed if nobody gets down and dirty in it.)Sacchi Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10801164916418570059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-55830182176046000112015-09-01T22:32:36.403-04:002015-09-01T22:32:36.403-04:00There's that old definition: "Porn is wha...There's that old definition: "Porn is whatever got the judges hard." In actuality, he difference is in the eye of the beholder. To me, if it turns someone on, its erotic. Perhaps too simple, but why not keep it simple?Daddy Xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12927663248424944119noreply@blogger.com
