I also have an autobiographical piece that I'm farting around with covering three different jobs I held on San Francisco's Kearny Street during the sixties and seventies. One was as chef in a bar right across from Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope building. Lots of stories there.Daddy Xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12927663248424944119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-71195008629115315232013-05-23T23:16:16.648-04:002013-05-23T23:16:16.648-04:00Daddy X, you clearly have an extraordinary and len...Daddy X, you clearly have an extraordinary and lengthy memoir begging to be written--unless you've already written it and have it imprisoned somewhere.Sacchi Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10801164916418570059noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-81388411569592465412013-05-23T15:47:10.681-04:002013-05-23T15:47:10.681-04:00I'm sure it's worse in South America. They're all Catholics there (a generalization for sure) so with the power they wield, there's few to say otherwise.Daddy Xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12927663248424944119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-45799842074382923212013-05-23T00:30:50.672-04:002013-05-23T00:30:50.672-04:00Daddy X, this story reminds me of true horror stor...Daddy X, this story reminds me of true horror stories I've heard from my spouse, who calls herself a "recovering Catholic" (educated in Chile by Spanish nuns who seemed fresh from the Inquisition). I'm glad I missed that kind of character-building.Jean Robertahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08805088081675965859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-31182922153792843072013-05-22T21:30:56.454-04:002013-05-22T21:30:56.454-04:00off to read it ;)off to read it ;)Amanda Earlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09059621442042833693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-47647498544903822182013-05-22T18:09:06.108-04:002013-05-22T18:09:06.108-04:00Sorry to hear about your early canings. You appare...Sorry to hear about your early canings. You apparently had a much more sensible mom. And there probably wasn't religion in the way, twisting common sense even further.

I also have a long work that I can't post anywhere because of a very important chapter relating to the early, formative years of a young girl's monumental sexuality. My story 'Nikki Didn't Like It', now residing in the ERWA 2012 Treasure Chest is an excerpt from that-- age adjusted, of course.Daddy Xhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12927663248424944119noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-85026593010396897362013-05-22T16:56:22.990-04:002013-05-22T16:56:22.990-04:00ah memories. when i was 5, my mother, sister and i...ah memories. when i was 5, my mother, sister and i went back to England, to Yorkshire. i was put in a working class school. i was caned a number of times. it took 3 months for me to tell my mother. when i did, we hightailed it out of there & returned to Canada. i have another story about a sadistic little girl named Sandra and what she did to other little girls, but i'll save that for another time. i'm not even sure i could talk about it here, since it was a true tale & it involved 12 year old girls.Amanda Earlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09059621442042833693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-5804615273072549462013-05-22T13:25:24.964-04:002013-05-22T13:25:24.964-04:00It has always been the fashion to hide a family...It has always been the fashion to hide a family's so-called misfits in the clergy. Those 'unlikely to marry anyway', for instance. 'Wayward' women went to the convent to have their 'illegitimate' children. I have often thought that for a man or woman who wanted a life of scholarly pursuits, not much of a libido, a monk-style life would be an ideal refuge. But it also caught up the really depraved as well. Killing in the name of the lord is sorta okay, throughout the ages.

In Milan, there is the Museo Criminologico, a four-story collection of torture instruments, mostly from time of the Inquisition. I've also heard of other such exhibits in other European cities as well. It's amazing the lengths humans will go to to inflict pain, from the most simple (Heavy wooden beam with a razor sharp top, meant to be straddled for days at a time, sometimes with weights on the feet) to the most complicated inventions, worthy of the most clinically depraved minds.

In the high school I went to, it must have been the reject priests of the diocese. Some had been missionaries with ongoing malarial symptoms, others with obvious mental and physical conditions, guys that I might otherwise feel sorry for (and did at the time) if they didn't feel it necessary to spread their misery around so freely to children. One wonders how many nuns and priests were really getting their jollies from punishing their poor students. It might be like jail wardens - a job that attracts literal sadists.

Glad you escaped!Lisabet Saraihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05162514190572269660noreply@blogger.com
