Not to my tastes at all. I prefer mutual respect. I guess that, more than anything, is what makes me old-fashioned and, in the words of my sister-in-law, "hopelessly vanilla." To each their own.

And I've read that "Guts" story. I just thought it was gross, and I wanted to wash my mind clean of it as soon as I was done. If not for the ending,...I loved the intro dialogue. If not for the ending, I think it could fly somewhere, because it's so clear that what they're doing is consensual. But maybe that's just me... Anyway, I really enjoyed it. I especially liked the juxtaposition of get it up/give it up, the way both demands are made violently in the characters' imaginations, and need to be. I think that power and aggression is often portrayed as entirely one way. In this story, both characters needed to be victims of some sort, but also victimizers.Annabeth Leonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07455191827664110878noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-72470075906443031632015-05-17T15:51:26.051-04:002015-05-17T15:51:26.051-04:00Marvelously creepy. It's called "Guts" by Chuck Palaniuk. That story is unforgettable, I wish I;d written it.

I don;t know. I thought Franny was kind of cute in a weird way . . . .

GarceGarceushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11160407485298015371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-34977812217381341172015-05-15T19:26:27.959-04:002015-05-15T19:26:27.959-04:00Hi Sacchi!

I just read a short story by Alice Walker - who knew she wrote erotic stories? - and it was genuinely hot while at the same time growing this arc towards a sad end. The love didn;t work out. I guess it kind of depends. I don;t expect to become sexually aroused by much that I read anymore, but I'm always immensely curious to see how people experience eroticism. Sometimes bad sex is more interesting that good sex.

GarceGarceushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11160407485298015371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-91242936882432020702015-05-15T19:24:10.532-04:002015-05-15T19:24:10.532-04:00I hate to keep recycling stuff, but the muse comes...I hate to keep recycling stuff, but the muse comes and goes these days. I've always liked the dialogue in this story, especially franny. There was just something darkly fun about writing those conversations.

GarceGarceushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11160407485298015371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-18072018846525579402015-05-14T20:21:40.000-04:002015-05-14T20:21:40.000-04:00Yeah , hated the characters but couldn't stop ...Yeah , hated the characters but couldn't stop reading.
