Talk about internal conflict! Throw in a damsel in distress, and you've got quite the story.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-25861768155721399962008-07-31T10:26:00.000-04:002008-07-31T10:26:00.000-04:00OK, I know this is getting too intellectual for a ...OK, I know this is getting too intellectual for a post on paranormal romances, escapism, and sexy cowboys, but:

The science fiction and fantasy genres were created as a way of safely addressing real-world issues and problems, particularly (for science fiction, especially) things like communism, the impact of new technologies, and interracial bias. By putting these issues into a non-real-world context, they become less threatening and, perhaps ironically, more easily processed or comprehended, even if subconsciously.

Do paranormal romances do the same thing? Even without the express intent of the author? Or are they purely for fun?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-85634612197154483222008-07-31T10:00:00.000-04:002008-07-31T10:00:00.000-04:00I worship at the YeeHaw Ride em Cowboy Church of L...I worship at the YeeHaw Ride em Cowboy Church of Lonely Cowgirls.

Paranormal fiction is about fun and fantasy and leaving, in some small way, everyday drudges. We love them for the same reason we love The Dark Knight, The Mummy movies, and Transformers. They tease the imagination and perhaps the reason we love these things so much is because we KNOW they aren't real and we can therefore relax. No thinking and worrying required.

If you have a "relgious" problem with them? Well, last time I looked we lived in a free country. Spend your time and money elsewhere.Regina Carlyslehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06316730032624449669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-13655064563518790662008-07-31T08:14:00.000-04:002008-07-31T08:14:00.000-04:00I love 'em all... especially the sexy cowboys.
