As with your stories, it has that unique power when you are exploring those dangerous corners inside.

GarceGarceushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11160407485298015371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-82968130751370225602010-06-07T01:36:33.870-04:002010-06-07T01:36:33.870-04:00Hello, Mary,

But for me, poetry has always been a mostly non-analytical process. I don't agonize over words--I try to open myself and let them out.

Thanks for visiting!

Warmly,
LisabetLisabet Saraihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05162514190572269660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-59429675254647844562010-06-07T01:34:45.274-04:002010-06-07T01:34:45.274-04:00Hi, Kathleen,

I get frustrated with the word poetry because I think of myself as a storyteller whose words sometimes rearrange themselves into prose poem form. I have always been a curious person who loves a challenge. Poetry for me is the wordsmith's highest challenge. The genre's economy of words insistence makes me so very careful about each word I include.
I was a singer in one of my past lives, so I bring that musicality to the writing. i can actually hear in my head how many words or syllables I need to finish a stanza. It's kinda cool, actually.
Your post gives me the opportunity to thank you, Lisabet, for believing in me and my book of prose and poems. You were my first reviewers and as my book goes into its 5th printing, I am forever grateful to you...Writers, I would strongly encourage you to think like a poet occasionally, it will make your writing sharper and more profound...Word Actresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04041865850513656748noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9156334464585894857.post-27393563582063257052010-06-06T12:13:48.709-04:002010-06-06T12:13:48.709-04:00I wonder how many of us started off with poetry bu...I wonder how many of us started off with poetry but abandoned it. My efforts weren't as evocative as yours. It takes guts to open up like that, and even more to share such personal thoughts with others. Right down to the fact that of the hundreds I have written in my lifetime, just a single one of them has been published.

The two poems you shared moved me. "Logos" evoked strong images. I felt both the physical and emotional presence of that relationship.

The closing sentence of "Eclipse" made me swallow hard. Such wonderful tension.

CraigCraig Sorensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08101869420537661374noreply@blogger.com
