In the Name of the Father ~ M/M Daddy Kink by Morticia Knight

Hey all! I thought I'd drop in and share a bit about my new Daddy Kink book, In the Name of the Father, coming out at the end of the month. This is an angsty, age gap, hurt/comfort story with a heaping dose of kink, and is now on preorder. Keep scrolling past the blurb and links for a short preview :-)

I was living a lie. I couldn’t be caught in my deception, or my family and friends would abandon me. But my fears became reality and I was cast away as if I were garbage. Then this man, a stranger, took me home and showed me that love can take on many forms, that I’m not filled with sin or doomed to go to hell because I’m gay. He showed me that I’m not broken. I don’t need to be fixed. What I need is to be nurtured and cared for.

This man showed me that it’s okay to be his boy and to call him daddy…

Seth was a good Christian son raised in a very conservative church.

He learned early on that the world is evil and filled with sinners—but the most horrible thing you can be is gay. When his shame is discovered, he’s shipped off to a special camp that fixes deviants like him. Years have passed since then, yet he still runs from himself every day.

Malcolm was a good daddy for almost 10 years before his boy died.

No longer daring to be too close with another man again, he’s avoided clubs and old friends that remind him of a life filled with a joy he can no longer have. Unable to find a purpose in his lonely existence, he spends night after night in a dive bar at the edge of town. However, witnessing a scared young man being harassed by two bullies jolts him out of his misery.

No one messes with someone vulnerable and helpless on his watch…

Malcolm took a measured sip of his favorite single barrel bourbon. He sat at the bar with his back to the room, one foot on the rail and the other on the rung of the thickly padded, red leather cushioned barstool. Most of his nights were spent at Woody’s. The low-key gay bar at the edge of town provided him with the basics. Top shelf booze, marginally edible food, no hassle and a decided lack of dancing or other hook-up encouragements.
He was done with that shit.
Resting his elbows on the counter, he clutched the half-full tumbler between his hands. Or half empty. The cliché was one of the many he despised. The trite statement meant nothing when life unexpectedly reared up and kicked you in the balls. Not that he wallowed in self-pity—far from it. He had much to be grateful for. He still gained a lot of enjoyment from life and understood that he had it better than many.
However, that knowledge did nothing to take away his personal pain.
“Excuse me. Bartender?”
Malcolm glanced sideways at the young man who was now leaning toward the counter, but for whatever reason, hadn’t edged the other empty stools out of his way to do so. He stood a few seats down from him, and while his voice held a masculine edge to it, he spoke with little confidence. Malcolm’s immediate assessment of him was that he needed someone else to take charge.
The man leaned forward more. “Um, excuse me? Bartender?”
Or to learn how to speak up.
“I don’t think he can hear you.” Malcolm turned from the man who’d appeared startled to be addressed by him then called out to the unaware barkeep. As usual, Larry was at the far end of the long bar chatting up a bear, yet on the wrong side of the alcohol barrier. Only a regular like himself would know Larry was employed at the joint. “Hey, Larry! You’ve got a customer down here.”
Larry acknowledged him with a jerk of his chin then went back to whatever conversation he was engrossed in. Malcolm chuckled then regarded the poor kid who wasn’t having much luck getting a drink.
“He’ll remember he has a job in the next minute or two.”
The young man nodded shakily as he shoved his hands into his pockets. “Thanks. I’m in no hurry.”
Malcolm gave him a non-committal smile then went back to staring into the deep amber abyss of his whisky. Most nights he could be found at Woody’s nursing a drink or three. The goal wasn’t to get shit-faced or even all that buzzed. An alcohol overload wouldn’t do him any favors. Booze was a downer and too much of the stuff could launch his emotions into places he’d rather avoid. The idea was to keep the feelings at a safe distance. Not drown in them.
No, marking time at Woody’s was about not being alone with his thoughts in a big, empty house. The less of his past he dwelled on, the better chance he had of maintaining his sanity. Malcolm glanced up right as Larry jogged over. He seemed a bit rushed and a tad breathless for someone who was working an especially slow night.
Larry regarded the young man. “Before I ask what you want, can I see some ID?”
“Oh, yeah, sure.”
The kid dug around in his slightly baggy jeans that appeared as if they’d seen better days, then retrieved his wallet. Malcolm hadn’t been paying much attention to the guy, but now he realized the T-shirt he had on was a bit worn. There weren’t any stains or holes that he could detect, but whatever design or logo that had once been pressed on the front of the khaki green tee was almost completely faded away. And even though the chill of the fall Oregon air had gotten sharper in the past couple weeks, he wasn’t carrying a jacket.
Maybe he left it on a chair.
Malcolm tore his gaze away, took a sip of his drink and willed himself not to look around the room in search of the kid’s jacket. It wasn’t his business—wasn’t his responsibility to worry about this stranger who was standing next to him and buying a drink while radiating vibes of desperation. Malcolm purposely tuned out the discussion regarding what beer the young man wanted and whether he’d prefer bottle or tap.
Not listening.
His own boy, Everett, had been gone for almost ten years and Malcolm was done with that life. Didn’t socialize with that crowd anymore, didn’t go to clubs that catered to men who enjoyed dominating and boys who loved submitting and he sure as hell never went after any of the guys who patronized his almost nightly hangout. As crappy of a place as Woody’s was overall, it was his social safe haven. He didn’t shit where he ate, or whatever that stupid cliché was.
After what seemed like ages, the attractive, well-built man took his bottle and went to sit down, or play pool, or lean against the wall or whatever it was he was about to do.
Still not looking.
Malcolm rubbed his eyes with thumb and forefinger, sighing as he wondered what it was about the guy that had made him take stock—even as he’d been convincing himself he wasn’t doing such a thing. Yeah, okay, he hadn’t been able to help but notice the muscled biceps and broad shoulders, the strong jawline and how the old T-shirt fit across his defined chest. After all, the kid hadn’t been wearing a jacket.
Unavoidable. That’s all it was.
But now, the young man was gone, and he could go back to sitting, sipping and staring at nothing.

The Stormy Teacup (#flashfiction #mmromance #gayromance)

The Stormy Teacup
Cameron D. James

I walk by The Stormy Teacup several times a day. It’s in the concourse of my office building, so I pass by on my way in and out, and when I come down here for my lunch break. I’ve gone in several times and ordered a few things.

I don’t even like tea.

I say “Thank you” and drink it and put on my best smile, but when I’m out of sight, I dump it.

No, tea is not my thing.

The man behind the counter, however, is my thing.

Tall, bearded, bespectacled, tattooed, and just a few years older than me. Like, fuck me, he’s my type. He was the whole reason I went in that first time all those weeks ago. I used to just ignore this place when walking past, but one time he was out in front, wiping down the milk and sugar cart. I stopped in my tracks and watched that gorgeous man in his too-tight pants as he worked.

It wasn’t until my co-worker literally snapped her fingers in my face that I realized what I’d been doing. I blushed and brushed off her questions, then followed her to the elevator and up to our office.

Ever since then, I’ve visited The Stormy Teacup regularly.

With it now the end of the day on Friday of a long weekend, I’m faced with the prospect of not seeing this man until Tuesday. I say goodbye to my coworkers and head down the elevator, thankfully without any of said coworkers along with me.

When it reaches the main floor, I step out and to the side, then pause and take a deep breath. I don’t know why I’m so nervous, I’ve spoken to him many times before. Well, yeah, but all those times before I was just ordering tea. Today I want to ask him for something different…

Before I can chicken out and just go home and jerk off like I’ve been doing for weeks now, I ball up my hands into fists and stride through the concourse and up to The Stormy Teacup. The store is empty except for my God of Tea. I don’t even know his name. He’s wiping counters, cleaning up for the day.

He glances up, sees me, and smiles. Do I dare read into that smile? Is it just a “welcome back, regular customer” smile or is it more of a “I really like when you stop by” smile?

I smile back and enter.

He puts aside his cloth and comes to the till.

“A tea for the road home?” he asks.

“Um…” I bite my lip. He stares at that lip trapped between my teeth, then he looks into my eyes and I’m sure I see desire there. Or maybe I’m just imagining it. I’m so nervous. “I was hoping for something different.”

“Oh?” he asks, his voice suddenly lower. He rests an arm across the top of the till. “I hope I can provide you with what you want…”

Just as I’m about to say something more, though I still don’t know what I want to say, a customer comes in. He winks at me and quickly helps the other customer, getting her politely out of the store as fast as he can. He definitely has an inkling of what I want.

“You see…” I say, still not sure what I want to tell him. Finally, I blurt out, “I don’t really like tea.”

He laughs and there’s a twinkle in his eye. “I figured that out a long time ago,” he says. “All my other customers have favourite blends. You’re the only one who orders something different each time, and you never tell me you enjoyed what you tried. I’m either a terrible tea seller and you’re determined to find something remotely enjoyable … or you come in here for a different reason.” There is suddenly heat in his words. Unmistakable heat. I’m not imagining it this time. “So what is it you really want?”

I feel a blush warm my cheeks and I want to back down. I’m not normally so brazen when pursuing a guy.

“You,” I finally say. “I want you.”

He stares at me for a very long moment, eyes full of desire. Then he comes out from behind the counter and goes to the front of his store. He looks back at me and for a moment I wonder if he’s asking me to leave, but then he slides the door shut and locks us in and then turns out the overhead lights. The only illumination left comes from the windows and from the little display lights showcasing speciality teas and fancy teacups.

“I’ve been waiting for you to work up the courage,” he says. He walks toward me and then stops mere inches from me. He leans in close and I feel the warmth radiating from his skin. He brings his lips close to mine, but doesn’t touch them. Instead, he looks into my eyes. “How much of me do you want?”

“All,” I manage to say, stuttering on that simple word. “I want want all of you.”

He suddenly presses his lips to mine, kissing me. He puts his hands on my arms and then slides those hands around to my back, hugging me tight, pulling me close. I open my mouth and his tongue slides inside and caresses mine. I moan into the kiss and my knees weaken; my body sags but he holds me up by hugging me tighter.

Eventually, he breaks the kiss. “Coffee?” he asks.

I blink several times, clearing the lust from my mind to process what he said. “What?”

“You don’t like tea. Can I take you for coffee?” He leans in and nibbles at the base of my neck while waiting for my answer.

“I’d love that,” I say. “But…”

“But what?” When I don’t answer, he gropes my crotch. “But this?”

I nod jerkily. I’ve got somewhat tight pants on; I can’t go parading through downtown with an erection.

He winks at me, then grabs my hand and pulls me around behind the counter. “Get down,” he urges, and I do. He nudges my chest and I lie on the floor. He undoes my belt and unzips my pants, then wiggles them down a bit and digs my cock out of my briefs.

“You don’t have to do this,” I say. Why the fuck am I saying this?

“It’s a thank you,” he says, “for buying all that tea when you don’t like tea.”

Before I could say anything more, he has my cock in his mouth. “Fuck…” I moan, then lay my head back. He sucks me deep, taking it right to the base, rippling his tongue along my shaft. It feels incredible.

I moan again. I want to call out his name … but I don’t know his name. I caress his head, running my fingers through his hair, then I tug on his ears so he comes off my cock. He releases my erection with a wet slurp.

“I’m Kevin,” I say.

He gives me a wet, silly grin. “Richard. Dick for short, in the old days, anyway.”

I cup my hand under his chin and wordlessly urge him to climb atop me. He does and presses his body against mine and those delicious lips are against my mouth once more. Reaching between us, I undo his pants and nudge them down, releasing his cock. It’s hard and about the same size as mine, maybe a little thicker. He moans as I run my fingers over his cock head, which then drives him to kiss me harder.

He rubs his body against mine, his cock sliding against mine, the spit on my cock lubing us both. I free my hand from between our bodies and grab his denim-clad ass, urging him to rub his dick harder and faster against mine.

The friction of our bodies and the connection at our mouths has my lust in overdrive. This is making me wild for him and amazingly bringing me rushing head-on into orgasm. I’m not far from exploding and covering both our crotches with my hot seed.

But part of me worries about coming so soon. Will it be off-putting for him? Will he be disappointed?

And then he lets out a quivering moan. A sound I know too well, a sound very similar to the one I make.

I wriggle my hips in time with his, helping increase the friction and rubbing between us, and I let that internal wall I’ve been holding up collapse. I no longer resist what is inescapable.

He grinds hard against me and then lets out another quivering moan, which I swallow with hungry kisses. His body judders and shakes and I feel the warm splash of his cum splattering on my crotch. The heat alone pushes me over that same edge and I let out my own quivering moan, which he similarly swallows in a hungry kiss. Electric fire courses through me then comes exploding forth from my cock as it orgasms and shoots out its heavy load of sticky cum. I shake and quiver and ride through the incredible and overwhelming sensations.

Moments later he’s still lying on me and we’re both gasping, recovering from it all. I kiss him again, softer this time, and he kisses me back.

“I liked that,” I say.

“Me too.” He rolls off me and looks at our messy crotches with a grimace. Reaching up, he grabs some napkins from the sales counter and we clean ourselves off as best we can.

I have cum smeared on my dress shirt and pants. “I can’t go to a coffeeshop like this,” I say. I feel really bad that this impulsive frottage has ended our date prematurely.

“Let’s stay in,” he says. He does up his pants and I can see they’re similarly cum-smeared.

“Stay in?” I ask.

He winks and helps me to my feet. He leads me to a small door behind the till and into the stock room beyond. It’s a cramped space, but at the far end of the tiny room there’s a small table and two chairs. And on top of the table is a coffeemaker.

He closes the door, giving us absolute privacy, hiding us from view from the windows.

“This is cute,” I say, and I mean it.

“Thank you.” He reaches over and starts up the little coffee pot. “I can’t guarantee how good the coffee is, though.”

“That’s okay,” I say. I reach and grab for his hand, holding it in mine. “It’s more the company than the coffee. After all, I drank all that tea just to talk to you…”

Beyond the Veil #magicalrealms #fantasy #PNR

Beyond the Veil
By Morticia Knight

When I began writing romance, my dream was to become a top paranormal romance author. I had cut my adult romance reading teeth on fare by PNR authors such as Karen Marie Moning and Christine Feehan. They were the first mainstream authors I’d read who had high heat levels in their books and I was hooked!

I took a left turn along the way, because even though I had plenty of paranormal plot bunnies lurking in folders on my computer, I also had other story ideas as well. An open publishing call went out for hunky men in uniform for a gay romance anthology, and I submitted one of those stories. While I didn’t make it into that antho, I instead ended up writing a series with that initial premise. The publisher felt it had more potential that way than as a short.

Fast forward several years later, and I’ve written many men in uniform stories (one comes out today as a matter of fact *wink*), plus lots of kink. But other than one turn with aliens for my Soul Match series, everything has happened here on this earthly plane.

Then, about a year and a half ago, that paranormal romance author wanted to get their turn. Since readers identify Morticia with hunky alphas facing danger or Doms wielding whips while in this dimension, I decided a new pen name was in order. I now write paranormal and mpreg books under the name M.M. Wilde.

These genres have opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. I’ve written wolf shifters who are made aware of an ancient prophecy by a human caught up in a shared destiny with them, and a swan shifter who is rescued by a wolf shifter in the magical town of Vale Valley. Vale Valley can only be seen by those who are in need of love and a home. In the swan stories, I’ve had even more fun, because the swan shifters lay eggs instead of giving birth. There were so many literary options there to explore, and I rediscovered just how much I love world-building.

Tolkien has been mentioned already this month and with good reason. His fantasy world is one of the all-time most magnificent of ones, and I’m a complete and utter fan. One of the aspects I’m obsessed with more than any other are the elves and their culture. To me, the majority of the magic of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit stories can be found in the realm of the elves.

I had an idea for a story featuring the realm of the fae, and how they are in an alternate reality—beyond the veil—from the rest of humanity. I focused on the moon fairies of the world I created, and how they live in the constant glow of the moon in a never-ending night that is filled with plenty of beauty and joy. Of course, this story wouldn’t work for Morticia, so M.M. Wilde had to take over. Entwined turned out to be very sweet, while also being erotic. That’s the one area where I remain consistent across pen names!

While I intended for this story to be a standalone novella, there’s a chance I might revisit this magical realm again. Sometimes it’s hard to let go of our characters, especially when they’re as sweet as Bram and they live in such a fantastical place!

Seduced By My Best Friend's Dad

by Cameron D. James

While perhaps not my most taboo title (as the definition of what's taboo will vary from person to person), Seduced By My Best Friend's Dad is my most popular taboo title.

When I started writing this, I was catching on that incest and pseudo-incest (step-relations) were hot taboo topics, but also very problematic as books featuring those themes often got banned on Amazon. With that in mind, I took it one step back to what I decided was pseudo-pseudo-incest. There's no relation between the two males leads (biological or legal), but due to circumstances, Jay has always looked up to his best friend's dad "like a father figure".

Here's the blurb:

Jay has a crush on Richard, his best friend’s dad. Richard is older, very masculine, cares about Jay, and is extremely sexy. There are just the problems of Richard being straight, married, and the father of Jay’s life-long best friend.

When Richard takes his son and Jay on a camping trip to celebrate turning eighteen, becoming men, and taking their first steps into the adult world, Jay struggles to contain his lust. Hitting on Richard would ruin the camping trip and destroy his friendship.

But when his friend takes ill and Jay and Richard enjoy some bonding time alone, it becomes clear that Jay isn’t the only one in the thrall of forbidden desires. A relaxing camping trip soon turns into a series of sweaty, erotic encounters, as Jay and Richard stoke this fire burning between them.

And here's an excerpt:

Still not breaking eye contact with Richard, Jay willed his fingers back to life, massaging Richard’s upper thigh. With every squeeze of his fingers, he moved his hand half an inch closer to that patch of ball skin. With every passing moment, he felt the tension build in both of them, like he was waiting for Richard to call him a pervert or Richard was waiting for Jay to burst out laughing at the prank. But then his fingertips brushed against that warm, soft, wrinkled, hairy skin, and the tension deflated from both of them.

“Jay...” Richard said, his voice a mere whisper. It was filled with lust and need, happiness and contentment. He wanted this — needed this.

Jay brushed the skin, rubbing his fingers back and forth, then carefully worked his hand under Richard’s shorts and boxers. Soon he had one meaty ball rolling between his fingers. It was almost plum-sized, firm and round. He squeezed the ball lightly, tugged it gently, and Richard let out a low moan, falling back on his elbows on the rock, head cast back. Jay eased his other hand in the other pant leg and grabbed Richard’s other ball, giving it the same massage treatment. He rubbed both balls, smoothing out the skin, holding them firm in his grasp. The long bulge in the middle of the pile of fabric at Richard’s crotch twitched.

Shifting to grasp both balls in one hand, Jay slid his fingers reverently up the length of Richard’s cock, watching the man’s face for any reaction that this was going too far. But Richard was too far gone, too lost in the heat of the moment to ever say no — Jay knew he had Richard, that the man was putty in his hands, but that he had willingly and knowingly put himself there.

He still didn’t understand it — Richard was straight and married and the very fact that Jay was his son’s best friend should have put up some immediate boundaries, placed him off limits. But those boundaries were obviously being ignored. The almost father-son relationship they’d developed over the years also wasn’t a boundary that could stop them. If anything, that closeness only added to the intimacy of the moment. Jay was giving pleasure to the man he’d looked up to all these years.

Hustler Slade has had little choice over his fate. Barely twenty years old, he’s had to survive any way he can after being thrown out for being gay when he was still in his teens. As soon as he hit Vegas, Slade was lured into the hopeless world of prostitution where he’s become a virtual prisoner to his pimp, the ruthless Julio Estevez.
It’s another typical night on the Strip when officer Parker comes across Slade. His heart breaks every time he sees someone so young being exploited. Yet something in Slade’s eyes tells Parker the young man might be in real trouble—especially after the recent wave of sex worker killings by a rival prostitution ring.
The two men’s lives become intertwined when Slade is almost beaten to death. The danger grows, but so does the relationship between Parker and Slade. Parker helps Slade to heal from the horrific attack and their bond deepens. But the human traffickers are still on the prowl—and they’ll stop at nothing to steal Slade back.

“Valeena!” Slade banged on the motel room door. “Please, Valeena, let me in!”
The flimsy door flew open. A large, enraged black man with his pants undone towered over Slade.
“What the fuck do you want? Huh? I’ll be done with her ass in five then you can have at it. In the meantime, shut. The fuck. Up.”
He slammed the door with brute force, the windows rattling in response. Slade glanced around nervously. The cops would be looking for him. They could be anywhere. He crouched down behind one of the bushes up against the seedy motel. The dump was right off the Strip and was the place they always used to take their dates. Julio rented five rooms by the week and number six was Valeena’s.
After a short while, Valeena’s trick left and Slade waited until he drove away before coming out from behind the plants. He was just about to knock again when the door flung open. Valeena’s eyes went wide at the sight of Slade’s raised arms, the cuffs holding them together at the wrists.
“Oh shit. Did a john do that to you?”
He pushed past her, anxious to get inside to what suddenly seemed like sanctuary.
“No. Cops. Close the door.” His voice was shaky, adrenaline still pumping through him.
She did as he asked then shut the light off before peeking through the curtains.
“Fuck, Slade. Do you think they followed you?”
“I don’t think so.”
She turned to him in the darkness, the glow from the lights outside seeping in beneath the ratty curtains.
“Are you sure? Because if you’re not, I’m hauling my narrow ass out of the bathroom window.”
“Um, pretty sure. I kneed the cop who had me really good.”
Valeena burst into musical peals of laughter. “Oh, man, why do I always miss the good stuff? I woulda loved to have seen that.”
Slade allowed himself a lopsided smile. “Any chance we can get these things off me?” He held up his imprisoned hands, shaking them.
She padded over to the nightstand then turned the lamp back on. “I can’t.” She scrunched her eyebrows together. “But I bet Samson can.”
Samson was a client of Valeena’s, one of her regulars. He ran a questionable business that seemed to involve the need for opening a lot of locks that didn’t have keys. Slade had never questioned her much further than that. She fished around in the drawer of the nightstand that was filled with condoms, lube, lipstick, loose bills and other assorted items until she pulled out her burner phone.
After plopping on the bed and yanking her short silky robe around her, she tapped the screen. Holding the cell to her ear, she winked at Slade.
“Don’t worry. Now sit down. You’re making me nervous.”
He perched on the only chair in the room, his stomach still twisting, his nerves still frayed. As soon as Samson picked up, she babbled excitedly to him, obviously softening him up before she hit him with a favor. He’d never heard her talk with such enthusiasm to a client before—she was much better at acting with the tricks than he was.
While he waited for her to get to the point with Samson, he ran everything that had happened with the cop through his mind. A new emotion surfaced from inside him—one he’d thought had been effectively tamped down.
He felt bad. Guilty. He knew he shouldn’t—his survival had been at stake. But it really had seemed as if the cop cared. There’d been something about him that had come across as decent and kind. Not like the asshole cops or almost every other person he’d met in the past few years—along with his own so-called family. Only Valeena had ever been there for him.
Slade tuned back into her conversation, but her voice had dropped lower and she was angled away from him. It was like she was…cooing or something.
Gross.
Staring down at the silver bracelets locked on his wrists, he recalled how the cop had been so worried he might have hurt Slade, how he’d cuffed him in the front so he wouldn’t add to the pain. His only real pain had been from Harold’s bruises, but he’d used it to his advantage. Once he’d been restrained from the front instead of the back, it had been that much easier to get away.
He squirmed in the chair. It wasn’t his fault. He’d had no choice but to strike out at the cop to get away—the man hadn’t listened to him. Slade couldn’t allow his thoughts to run any further away than that. One of the worst things he or any of the other sex workers could do was allow themselves to wish for something more, something real. His world and relationships had to remain fake no matter what, or else the pain of longing could destroy him.
But if I were ever to have someone to love…
There it was again. Those damn stinging tears. There’d been far too many times recently where they’d threatened to take over. It was pointless to think that a hot guy who led a respectable life would want anything to do with a throwaway like Slade.

A Mostly Untrue Story (#hotread #amreading #gayerotica)

Everyone always asks me if my books are based on my sexcapades. And if they don't ask, they just assume it to be true. Or they assume that I'm listening to everyone's dating and sex drama and turning it into fiction. I can tell y'all that's 100% untrue.

However, with that in mind, I thought I'd use this month's theme to promote my very first erotic book! It's the one that kicked off this massive suspicion that I'm sexually insatiable in my private life.

Autumn Fire
Cameron D. James

True gay love is a fairy tale. No matter what everyone says, that’s what Dustin firmly believes. As he starts his first year of university, Dustin is happy in the closet, where he can meet his gay needs secretly through anonymous hookups.

But when Dustin has his first hookup of the university term, with a muscular dark-eyed jock in the library men’s room, he can’t help notice the deep and immediate connection he feels, one that seems almost like love. It’s over as quickly as it begins and, as all anonymous hookups go, Dustin never expects to see him again.

The term gets difficult, especially when his math class begins. Dustin destresses with more hookups, but they don’t sate him the way they used to, and he finds he cannot stop thinking about his start-of-term encounter. Soon, his academic needs outweigh the sexual, and Dustin caves in and gets a tutor.

Attractive, well-built, dark-eyed…and a jock, his new tutor, Kyle, is none other than his anonymous hookup from the men’s room. Fate seems to have connected him to the man of his dreams.

Or maybe not, since Kyle is even more in the closet than Dustin is.

This book opens with an anonymous bathroom blowjob. And that leads into the story I love to tell about it.

I was at a writing convention that featured a "live action slush" session. Writers anonymously submitted the first page of their book to the event; a reader would read the page out loud; and a panel of four editor judges would put up their hand when they would stop reading the submission. The idea is that you see where you're losing an acquisition editor's interest.

The reader read the opening paragraphs with the bathroom blowjob and everyone in the room giggled awkwardly. I didn't make it through to the end, three of the four judges put up their hands when they would have stopped reading (and once the third hand goes up, the narrator stops reading out loud).

Interestingly, Canadian superstar sci-fi author Robert J Sawyer was the last of the three to put up his hand. He had a goofy grin on his face during the blowjob.

During commentary afterward, one judge explained why she put up her hand: "There's too much angst. This whole bathroom blowjob is totally unbelievable!"

The one editor who did not put up her hand, and thus the one that would have kept reading, knew that it was my submission; she came and told me that the other editors didn't know what they were talking about. And then she later cornered that "totally unbelievable" editor and demanded of her, "You've never been in a bathroom with a gay man, have you?!"

Excerpt

Dustin stared at the sneakered foot, just visible below the stall wall, as the other man stopped at the urinal beside him. He waited for the signal — until he heard it he didn’t know if this was CollegeJock22 or some random dude who had to piss.

Time seemed to slow as he heard a zipper open. With every passing heartbeat, he waited for the telltale sound of urination ... but it wasn’t happening. The foot shifted. The pant leg lifted, briefly flashing a white sock.

The signal! Dustin shuffled his foot close to the dividing wall, so the other man could see it, and flashed his own sock.

Dustin waited ... but nothing happened. Embarrassment swelled as he realized the awkward coincidence. This was not CollegeJock22. As soon as he leaves, I’m going back to my dorm and I’m just gonna jack off, Dustin decided. This was a mistake, to meet some random guy in a random washroom.

Then the other man’s feet moved. Dustin held his breath, not daring to make even the slightest sound of exhalation. He’d not heard the man piss — and he’d not heard the man zip up again. Maybe this was CollegeJock22. He just prayed the man wasn’t fat and ugly, that his profile hadn’t been one big lie. Dustin’s heart thudded as the man stood on the other side of the stall door. As planned, Dustin had left it unlocked. It squeaked softly as the man – CollegeJock22 — nudged it open.

All his doubts vanished. Quite simply, CollegeJock22 would be the hottest guy Dustin ever hooked up with. He was the rare man that not only lived up to his profile, but surpassed it. He easily stood five foot eleven and had tight golden curls peeking out from below his ball cap. His muscled chest pulled his shirt taut beneath his open jacket and his cock ... his cock was a gorgeous piece of meat, dangling from his open fly. The thick and semi-hard dick sprouted from a dusting of fine hair.

Men in Uniform Anyone?

Hi everyone, Morticia here! I'm in the process of revising and expanding my bestselling Sin City Uniforms series that began in 2014. First one on deck, All Fired Up, is now on preorder. This installment is a combination of erotic exploration between a cop and firefighter along with a dose of mystery and danger.

Shawn can’t decide whether he wants to punch or kiss Trent. Kissing wins.

The party never ends in Las Vegas, but neither does the danger. Shawn is the new foot patrol officer on the Strip and he’s ready to take on the town and keep the peace. Once he spots hunky firefighter Trent, Shawn wonders whether he can take him on too.

Trent is dedicated to his job, built tough and a no-nonsense man of few words. At a local blood drive, Trent eyes a handsome new officer but doesn’t dare get too close. After his boyfriend’s life was snatched away in the line of fire, he couldn’t bear the agony of such a loss again.

Trent’s over-protective instincts kick in during an emergency call and he embarrasses and angers Shawn in front of their fellow officers. Too late, he realizes he’s falling for the sexy man. But has he already destroyed any chance they might have at something more?

Once they spend time together away from the stresses of their jobs, they find they’re not just compatible – they’re combustible. However, right as their relationship deepens, the threat of terror escalates on the Strip. The underground vigilante group, the Citizens Against Immorality, have raised the stakes. Will Shawn and Trent be their next targets?

Publisher Note: This book has been revised and expanded from the original edition that was published under the same title at Totally Bound Publishing in September of 2014.

How Much Should I Share?

By Morticia Knight

Hey all, I’m a newbie here at Oh Get a Grip, but very excited that I was invited to participate by the lovely Lisabet Sarai. I’m going to introduce myself by way of this post, since this month’s topic ties in perfectly with sharing ourselves with our readers.

Almost every author goes through the struggle in the beginning of their public career where they need to decide how much of their lives they want to share. I’ve heard so many talks on this subject in various author groups where those who are about to dip their toes into publishing want to know whether they should use a pen name or real name, whether they should use a real photo or buy a logo, do they disclose what town they live in or remain vague. Even seemingly innocuous things like posting pics of pets or their fabulously decorated Christmas tree should be taken into consideration when interacting on the Internet. How much should we share and how much do readers expect us to share?

The answer is unique to every person and sometimes complex. We live in a world now where a Google search can uncover surprisingly personal details we may not want disclosed. I’m not even referring to scandalous or criminal events, but perhaps who our children are, where they go to school, where we work at our day jobs and so on. Maybe we don’t care if details about ourselves are exposed, but what about our friends and families? They didn’t sign up for this ride, so perhaps they’d rather not be included. This is particularly true if the subject matter of our fiction isn’t mainstream.

Since I write LGBTQ erotic romance, not everyone wants to be associated with me. Not everyone knows I’m bisexual, even though I don’t hide it and I’ve publicly appeared on panels discussing bi-erasure and bisexual representation in fiction. However, I use a pen name for many reasons, which I’ll get to in a moment. But first, I want to discuss what happened when I first began my public writing journey. I discovered not everyone wanted others to know they were friends with or interacted with me.

I began a Facebook page under my real name back in the day when it was first a thing. Of course, I invited my real-life friends to add me and several requested me as well. When I announced I’d be publishing, I didn’t disclose exactly what type of fiction it would be at first. Then my daughters announced on their pages what I was writing and tagged me. That’s when the backlash began. I had already invited people to friend request me on my pen name profile, because honestly, I rarely looked at my personal one anymore since I simply didn’t have the time. I then received a message from a long-time friend who holds very liberal views, isn’t religious and used to worked in the entertainment industry as an actress.

My friend told me she was sorry, but she was in the process of interviewing for a new job and couldn’t take the chance that potential employers would do a search and find out we were friends. Wow. That hurt. At the same time. I understood her fears. I was still working a day job at the time and wasn’t sure how what I did when not at the job would be taken, so I kept my pen name a closely guarded secret When an inter-office memo made light of an LGBTQ issue however, it was like a bag of rocks landed in my stomach. I sat on it for a day, thought it over, then had to contact corporate with a rather lengthy memo outlining why out of the over four thousand employees who had been sent the memo, there were bound to be at least a few who were on the spectrum and could be hurt by it.

Turned out the Vice President of Corporate was out and proud. He also had no idea about the memo, as it was handled at a lower level of the corporate tier. That was an eye-opener. I still didn’t over-share at my job regarding my pen name, because regardless of LGBTQ issues, the erotic content wasn’t something everyone would be comfortable with. In that environment, being one hundred percent open about this other life I led outside the workplace wouldn’t have been appropriate.

Then, I quit my job to write full time.

It was then that I decided to use my real photo and no longer hide what it is I do for a living. The only area where I remain vague has to do with my family. I don’t share my family member’s names, although they sometimes show up of their own accord because they tag me and are proud of what I do. All three of my daughters have come out publicly as bisexual, so for them, it’s a non-issue. My oldest daughter is also an author (although she writes diverse fantasy fic) and editor who has edited several of my books, so I’ve been more fortunate than many authors in terms of understanding and living a transparent life!

Thanks for reading and I’m thrilled to be a part of this great group of authers at Oh Get a Grip. As a reader, what are your expectations from your fave authors? Do you care what goes on behind the curtain, or do you prefer the mystery?

Although this is in the About Us section, here is my official introduction if you want to peek behind the curtain 😊

Author Bio: Author Morticia Knight spends most of her nights writing about men loving men forever after. If there happens to be some friendly bondage or floggings involved, she doesn’t begrudge her characters whatever their filthy little hearts desire. Even though she’s been crafting her naughty tales for more years than she’d like to share—her adventures as a published author began in 2011. Since then, she’s been fortunate enough to have several books on bestseller lists along with titles receiving recognition in the Rainbow Book Awards, Divine Magazine and Love Romance Café.

Once upon a time she was the lead singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She currently resides on the North Oregon coast and when she’s not fantasizing about hot men, she takes walks along the ocean and annoys the local Karaoke bar patrons.
