Gay Love and Other Christmas Magic (#newrelease #gayteens #gayromance)

by Cameron D. James (and his YA pen name Dylan James)

Gay Love and Other Christmas Magic

Dylan James

Can Christmas magic reunite two sets of young lovers before the night is over?

It’s been six months since Benjamin finally came out and publicly declared his love for his long-time best friend Jordan. And in those six months, so much has changed. They’ve both moved out, living in the university dorms, and they’re both overloaded with homework.

Although heading home on separate flights for the holiday, they still plan to spend this Christmas—their first as a couple—together, making up for the months of limited boyfriend time. But, when the snowstorm of the century hits New York City, Benjamin is stranded at the airport, with Jordan trapped at school. Unable to get in contact with each other, this very special first Christmas seems destined to be the worst one ever.

While Jordan is devastated, believing Benjamin to have already left the state, Benjamin is determined to get back to the dorms and into the arms of his boyfriend. The perilous trek through New York City is beset with obstacles all along the way, and he worries he’ll never make it back to Jordan. Yet, a little Christmas magic, and help from a few strangers, teach Benjamin not only is the impossible within reach, but that his relationship with Jordan is the best Christmas present of all.

This very special holiday follow-up to the bestselling Gay Love and Other Fairy Tales is a heartwarming journey that uncovers the true meaning of Christmas.

More Books Than Sense

Morticia Knight

I've been a horrible blogger lately. I've been an even worse reader. My transgressions stem from a frustrating combination of health woes and looming deadlines. Then, I just returned a week ago from the Gay Rom Lit Conference in New Mexico which wiped me out. I'm sort of upright now, though, so there's that!

One of the things I told myself before I went, and I was adamant, was that I wasn't going to buy one book. I wouldn't even consider it. Nope. I bet you know what happened, right? That I saw all the amazing books and couldn't help myself, I had to buy them! Hmm...sort of. The truth is, my friends offered them to me. As in, after I gave them one of my books that I'd brought for them, they asked if I'd like one of their beautiful books. Now come on. I'm only human! You expected me to say no? Ha!

You get the picture. So, twelve books later, I still remained true to my word and didn't buy one damn book. However... Here are a few of the lovelies (and don't tell anyone, but I designed the cover for LE Frank's Kiss, Kiss story collection). They range from the aforementioned more literary romantic gay fiction, to mpreg pirates to gay cowboys and BDSM and more!

How am I supposed to get any work done with this awesomeness in my house? Wish me luck!

The Stormy Teacup (#flashfiction #mmromance #gayromance)

The Stormy Teacup
Cameron D. James

I walk by The Stormy Teacup several times a day. It’s in the concourse of my office building, so I pass by on my way in and out, and when I come down here for my lunch break. I’ve gone in several times and ordered a few things.

I don’t even like tea.

I say “Thank you” and drink it and put on my best smile, but when I’m out of sight, I dump it.

No, tea is not my thing.

The man behind the counter, however, is my thing.

Tall, bearded, bespectacled, tattooed, and just a few years older than me. Like, fuck me, he’s my type. He was the whole reason I went in that first time all those weeks ago. I used to just ignore this place when walking past, but one time he was out in front, wiping down the milk and sugar cart. I stopped in my tracks and watched that gorgeous man in his too-tight pants as he worked.

It wasn’t until my co-worker literally snapped her fingers in my face that I realized what I’d been doing. I blushed and brushed off her questions, then followed her to the elevator and up to our office.

Ever since then, I’ve visited The Stormy Teacup regularly.

With it now the end of the day on Friday of a long weekend, I’m faced with the prospect of not seeing this man until Tuesday. I say goodbye to my coworkers and head down the elevator, thankfully without any of said coworkers along with me.

When it reaches the main floor, I step out and to the side, then pause and take a deep breath. I don’t know why I’m so nervous, I’ve spoken to him many times before. Well, yeah, but all those times before I was just ordering tea. Today I want to ask him for something different…

Before I can chicken out and just go home and jerk off like I’ve been doing for weeks now, I ball up my hands into fists and stride through the concourse and up to The Stormy Teacup. The store is empty except for my God of Tea. I don’t even know his name. He’s wiping counters, cleaning up for the day.

He glances up, sees me, and smiles. Do I dare read into that smile? Is it just a “welcome back, regular customer” smile or is it more of a “I really like when you stop by” smile?

I smile back and enter.

He puts aside his cloth and comes to the till.

“A tea for the road home?” he asks.

“Um…” I bite my lip. He stares at that lip trapped between my teeth, then he looks into my eyes and I’m sure I see desire there. Or maybe I’m just imagining it. I’m so nervous. “I was hoping for something different.”

“Oh?” he asks, his voice suddenly lower. He rests an arm across the top of the till. “I hope I can provide you with what you want…”

Just as I’m about to say something more, though I still don’t know what I want to say, a customer comes in. He winks at me and quickly helps the other customer, getting her politely out of the store as fast as he can. He definitely has an inkling of what I want.

“You see…” I say, still not sure what I want to tell him. Finally, I blurt out, “I don’t really like tea.”

He laughs and there’s a twinkle in his eye. “I figured that out a long time ago,” he says. “All my other customers have favourite blends. You’re the only one who orders something different each time, and you never tell me you enjoyed what you tried. I’m either a terrible tea seller and you’re determined to find something remotely enjoyable … or you come in here for a different reason.” There is suddenly heat in his words. Unmistakable heat. I’m not imagining it this time. “So what is it you really want?”

I feel a blush warm my cheeks and I want to back down. I’m not normally so brazen when pursuing a guy.

“You,” I finally say. “I want you.”

He stares at me for a very long moment, eyes full of desire. Then he comes out from behind the counter and goes to the front of his store. He looks back at me and for a moment I wonder if he’s asking me to leave, but then he slides the door shut and locks us in and then turns out the overhead lights. The only illumination left comes from the windows and from the little display lights showcasing speciality teas and fancy teacups.

“I’ve been waiting for you to work up the courage,” he says. He walks toward me and then stops mere inches from me. He leans in close and I feel the warmth radiating from his skin. He brings his lips close to mine, but doesn’t touch them. Instead, he looks into my eyes. “How much of me do you want?”

“All,” I manage to say, stuttering on that simple word. “I want want all of you.”

He suddenly presses his lips to mine, kissing me. He puts his hands on my arms and then slides those hands around to my back, hugging me tight, pulling me close. I open my mouth and his tongue slides inside and caresses mine. I moan into the kiss and my knees weaken; my body sags but he holds me up by hugging me tighter.

Eventually, he breaks the kiss. “Coffee?” he asks.

I blink several times, clearing the lust from my mind to process what he said. “What?”

“You don’t like tea. Can I take you for coffee?” He leans in and nibbles at the base of my neck while waiting for my answer.

“I’d love that,” I say. “But…”

“But what?” When I don’t answer, he gropes my crotch. “But this?”

I nod jerkily. I’ve got somewhat tight pants on; I can’t go parading through downtown with an erection.

He winks at me, then grabs my hand and pulls me around behind the counter. “Get down,” he urges, and I do. He nudges my chest and I lie on the floor. He undoes my belt and unzips my pants, then wiggles them down a bit and digs my cock out of my briefs.

“You don’t have to do this,” I say. Why the fuck am I saying this?

“It’s a thank you,” he says, “for buying all that tea when you don’t like tea.”

Before I could say anything more, he has my cock in his mouth. “Fuck…” I moan, then lay my head back. He sucks me deep, taking it right to the base, rippling his tongue along my shaft. It feels incredible.

I moan again. I want to call out his name … but I don’t know his name. I caress his head, running my fingers through his hair, then I tug on his ears so he comes off my cock. He releases my erection with a wet slurp.

“I’m Kevin,” I say.

He gives me a wet, silly grin. “Richard. Dick for short, in the old days, anyway.”

I cup my hand under his chin and wordlessly urge him to climb atop me. He does and presses his body against mine and those delicious lips are against my mouth once more. Reaching between us, I undo his pants and nudge them down, releasing his cock. It’s hard and about the same size as mine, maybe a little thicker. He moans as I run my fingers over his cock head, which then drives him to kiss me harder.

He rubs his body against mine, his cock sliding against mine, the spit on my cock lubing us both. I free my hand from between our bodies and grab his denim-clad ass, urging him to rub his dick harder and faster against mine.

The friction of our bodies and the connection at our mouths has my lust in overdrive. This is making me wild for him and amazingly bringing me rushing head-on into orgasm. I’m not far from exploding and covering both our crotches with my hot seed.

But part of me worries about coming so soon. Will it be off-putting for him? Will he be disappointed?

And then he lets out a quivering moan. A sound I know too well, a sound very similar to the one I make.

I wriggle my hips in time with his, helping increase the friction and rubbing between us, and I let that internal wall I’ve been holding up collapse. I no longer resist what is inescapable.

He grinds hard against me and then lets out another quivering moan, which I swallow with hungry kisses. His body judders and shakes and I feel the warm splash of his cum splattering on my crotch. The heat alone pushes me over that same edge and I let out my own quivering moan, which he similarly swallows in a hungry kiss. Electric fire courses through me then comes exploding forth from my cock as it orgasms and shoots out its heavy load of sticky cum. I shake and quiver and ride through the incredible and overwhelming sensations.

Moments later he’s still lying on me and we’re both gasping, recovering from it all. I kiss him again, softer this time, and he kisses me back.

“I liked that,” I say.

“Me too.” He rolls off me and looks at our messy crotches with a grimace. Reaching up, he grabs some napkins from the sales counter and we clean ourselves off as best we can.

I have cum smeared on my dress shirt and pants. “I can’t go to a coffeeshop like this,” I say. I feel really bad that this impulsive frottage has ended our date prematurely.

“Let’s stay in,” he says. He does up his pants and I can see they’re similarly cum-smeared.

“Stay in?” I ask.

He winks and helps me to my feet. He leads me to a small door behind the till and into the stock room beyond. It’s a cramped space, but at the far end of the tiny room there’s a small table and two chairs. And on top of the table is a coffeemaker.

He closes the door, giving us absolute privacy, hiding us from view from the windows.

“This is cute,” I say, and I mean it.

“Thank you.” He reaches over and starts up the little coffee pot. “I can’t guarantee how good the coffee is, though.”

“That’s okay,” I say. I reach and grab for his hand, holding it in mine. “It’s more the company than the coffee. After all, I drank all that tea just to talk to you…”

Out Now! Copping an Attitude (Sin City Uniforms 2) #mmromance #gayromance #meninuniform #excerpt

I'm stopping by to let you know that I have a new book out from the newly revised and expanded Sin City Uniforms series. If you're looking for a way to get your week started off right, you might want to grab this erotic, action-filled love story with a satisfying HEA :-)  You can also read an excerpt after the blurb and links:

Survival is all Slade understands until Parker saves him from the terrors of the streets. Too bad the streets won’t let Slade go…
Hustler Slade has had little choice over his fate. Barely twenty years old, he’s had to survive any way he can after being thrown out for being gay when he was still in his teens. As soon as he hit Vegas, Slade was lured into the hopeless world of prostitution where he’s become a virtual prisoner to his pimp, the ruthless Julio Estevez.
It’s another typical night on the Strip when officer Parker comes across Slade. His heart breaks every time he sees someone so young being exploited. Yet something in Slade’s eyes tells Parker the young man might be in real trouble—especially after the recent wave of sex worker killings by a rival prostitution ring.
The two men’s lives become intertwined when Slade is almost beaten to death. The danger grows, but so does the relationship between Parker and Slade. Parker helps Slade to heal from the horrific attack and their bond deepens. But the human traffickers are still on the prowl—and they’ll stop at nothing to steal Slade back.

Publisher's Note: This book has been revised and expanded from the original edition that was published under the same title at Totally Bound Publishing in January of 2015.

“Valeena!” Slade banged on the motel room door. “Please, Valeena, let me in!”
The flimsy door flew open. A large, enraged black man with his pants undone towered over Slade.
“What the fuck do you want? Huh? I’ll be done with her ass in five then you can have at it. In the meantime, shut. The fuck. Up.”
He slammed the door with brute force, the windows rattling in response. Slade glanced around nervously. The cops would be looking for him. They could be anywhere. He crouched down behind one of the bushes up against the seedy motel. The dump was right off the Strip and was the place they always used to take their dates. Julio rented five rooms by the week and number six was Valeena’s.
After a short while, Valeena’s trick left and Slade waited until he drove away before coming out from behind the plants. He was just about to knock again when the door flung open. Valeena’s eyes went wide at the sight of Slade’s raised arms, the cuffs holding them together at the wrists.
“Oh shit. Did a john do that to you?”
He pushed past her, anxious to get inside to what suddenly seemed like sanctuary.
“No. Cops. Close the door.” His voice was shaky, adrenaline still pumping through him.
She did as he asked then shut the light off before peeking through the curtains.
“Fuck, Slade. Do you think they followed you?”
“I don’t think so.”
She turned to him in the darkness, the glow from the lights outside seeping in beneath the ratty curtains.
“Are you sure? Because if you’re not, I’m hauling my narrow ass out of the bathroom window.”
“Um, pretty sure. I kneed the cop who had me really good.”
Valeena burst into musical peals of laughter. “Oh, man, why do I always miss the good stuff? I woulda loved to have seen that.”
Slade allowed himself a lopsided smile. “Any chance we can get these things off me?” He held up his imprisoned hands, shaking them.
She padded over to the nightstand then turned the lamp back on. “I can’t.” She scrunched her eyebrows together. “But I bet Samson can.”
Samson was a client of Valeena’s, one of her regulars. He ran a questionable business that seemed to involve the need for opening a lot of locks that didn’t have keys. Slade had never questioned her much further than that. She fished around in the drawer of the nightstand that was filled with condoms, lube, lipstick, loose bills and other assorted items until she pulled out her burner phone.
After plopping on the bed and yanking her short silky robe around her, she tapped the screen. Holding the cell to her ear, she winked at Slade.
“Don’t worry. Now sit down. You’re making me nervous.”
He perched on the only chair in the room, his stomach still twisting, his nerves still frayed. As soon as Samson picked up, she babbled excitedly to him, obviously softening him up before she hit him with a favor. He’d never heard her talk with such enthusiasm to a client before—she was much better at acting with the tricks than he was.
While he waited for her to get to the point with Samson, he ran everything that had happened with the cop through his mind. A new emotion surfaced from inside him—one he’d thought had been effectively tamped down.
He felt bad. Guilty. He knew he shouldn’t—his survival had been at stake. But it really had seemed as if the cop cared. There’d been something about him that had come across as decent and kind. Not like the asshole cops or almost every other person he’d met in the past few years—along with his own so-called family. Only Valeena had ever been there for him.
Slade tuned back into her conversation, but her voice had dropped lower and she was angled away from him. It was like she was…cooing or something.
Gross.
Staring down at the silver bracelets locked on his wrists, he recalled how the cop had been so worried he might have hurt Slade, how he’d cuffed him in the front so he wouldn’t add to the pain. His only real pain had been from Harold’s bruises, but he’d used it to his advantage. Once he’d been restrained from the front instead of the back, it had been that much easier to get away.
He squirmed in the chair. It wasn’t his fault. He’d had no choice but to strike out at the cop to get away—the man hadn’t listened to him. Slade couldn’t allow his thoughts to run any further away than that. One of the worst things he or any of the other sex workers could do was allow themselves to wish for something more, something real. His world and relationships had to remain fake no matter what, or else the pain of longing could destroy him.
But if I were ever to have someone to love…
There it was again. Those damn stinging tears. There’d been far too many times recently where they’d threatened to take over. It was pointless to think that a hot guy who led a respectable life would want anything to do with a throwaway like Slade.

I Love Rock 'n' Roll #authorlife #amwritingromance #amwritinggayromance

By Morticia Knight

Last month the topic at Oh Get a Grip revolved around using real life circumstances and events in our writing. I shared from my novel Rocked Hard because so much of myself is in that story. Aubrey is an alternative rock singer and songwriter from Los Angeles and the necessity of music in his life is as intense as mine. To add to how personal that story is to me, I used my own song lyrics for Aubrey’s band, Falling in Stereo. Which brings me to this month’s topic: Facing the Music.

That can be taken several ways. The most obvious would be actual music, but that expression can also pertain to dealing with a truth we don’t want to face. For me, both of those interpretations work. I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was twelve. And I don’t mean in a vague sort of way. I pursued this dream with a fervor that perplexed both my parents and friends. Neither could understand why it was so important that I have a subscription to Writer’s Digest or write in my spiral notebook every. Single. Day. I went as far as submitting a manuscript to Little, Brown & Company (now under Hachette Publishing), which I somehow decided was a good idea based on the research I’d done with my doorstop-sized tome, The Writer’s Market.

By the time I’d submitted my book, that was vaguely reminiscent of Harriet the Spy (neatly typed with the proper margins and correct weight/type of paper, of course), I was the ripe old age of fourteen. Then, once I’d received the inevitable rejection letter, my head had already been turned by Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and Heart. Even though the letter contained a nice postscript encouraging me to keep writing, my fourteen-year-old heart wasn’t listening. One of the New York publishing heavyweights didn’t want to publish me, so it was time to move on!

The next couple of decades were devoted to writing of a different kind. Instead of stories, it was song lyrics. Oh, I still had plenty of ideas tumbling through my mind, and I’d write them down—even getting up to twenty or thirty pages before giving up. I thought everything I wrote was horrible and besides, I’d gotten so entrenched with writing words to a rhythm and to rhyme, I almost couldn’t stop myself!

At the MIDEM Music Festival in Cannes, France. I'm the one in red.

While I did play in bands for quite a while, put out a record, made a small living at it some years—that elusive dream of being a big enough musician in the industry that I could make a solid, steady income never materialized. At a certain point, it became more of a hassle than I had been willing to admit for quite a while. I had to literally face the music. While I loved writing the songs, rehearsing them and being in the studio—live performing was too stressful. The pressure to have everything just so, maintaining a certain ‘look’, all the schmoozing; that aspect of being a performer wasn't something I’d ever cared for.  Once I reached my mid-thirties, I cared even less.

That was when writing called to me again. My first love. The dream that never should have been abandoned, as I’d come to believe. Jumping back in was a gradual process. I wrote bios and press releases for—you guessed it—musicians, did some reviews and articles, then got two gigs co-writing memoirs with the guitar player of a famous eighties ‘hair band’ and a rock journalist who had interviewed everyone from Chuck Berry to Michael Jackson. I even wrote articles on local history for two different newspapers. But more importantly, I was putting those long dormant writing muscles to work again.

At a certain point though, it wasn’t enough. I still had stories to tell. At first, I only submitted short stories to literary magazines (after, once again, doing meticulous research), but none of my story ideas truly fit. I kept veering toward romance, and it became an exercise in frustration to force the muse to bow to my literary will. At the beginning of 2011, I went all in and became an author of erotic romance. Less than ten months later, I’d signed my first contract and, in 2015, went fulltime.

I don’t regret my years as a musician and I still love music—it’s a necessity when I write. But the dream I’m living now is my true dream. I’m grateful for every single day I can still say this is my job.

Can This Be Real?

By Morticia Knight

As several of my fellow authors noted regarding this month’s topic, writing erotica and erotic romance can leave you as an author feeling vulnerable. How much is real? How much is an extremely vivid imagination? In my case, the clear answer is both. Perhaps I declare that with more emphasis than others because as a bisexual woman writing M/M romance, there’s no choice but to use a lot of imagination!

But what about other, non-sexual scenarios and circumstances? You know what they say, don’t piss off an author or they’ll kill you off in one of their books—and usually only after they’ve thoroughly vilified you. I’ve done very little of that (notice I didn’t say I’ve never done it!). Most of my truths mixed in with the fiction have been more in the way of vignettes from my personal life. Some have a lot of emotion behind them and are even very revealing of the inner, private me.

When I wrote the angsty and very sexual, Rocked Hard, about an aging gay rock star making a comeback and the questioning, young music journalist who has always idolized him—I took pieces from my own life as a musician. I even included some of my own lyrics for Aubrey’s songs. Since I’ve also written bios, articles and press releases for rock musicians, there were some aspects of me in Bryan as well. This story ended up being much more charged for me emotionally than many of my other stories. Here’s a short passage from Rocked Hard:

Aubrey picked up the progression of Bryan’s song, the one he’d originally written when he’d first fallen in love. He’d be starting the amended tour in less than a month, and he wanted Bryan to hear it before then, wanted him to hear it when they were alone.
“This is for you, Bry. I began it after our first night together and I finished it over the first few weeks of falling in love with you.” He glanced over at Bryan, catching his eye. “After you left, I never thought I’d sing it again. This’ll be my first time since you’ve come back.”
Bryan straightened, an anxious expression crossing his features that Aubrey couldn’t quite interpret.
“It’s called Carry.”
Aubrey fell into the intro, leading him into the strains of the first verse.

“I didn’t know, couldn’t plan. Still don’t know, what will be.
Just to see your face, to know the answers, hear them from your lips.
Are you believing, the way, I’m believing?”

Not ready to see Bryan’s reaction yet, he continued into the second verse.

“I didn’t know that I am, made for you and not for solitude.
I hear a song, repeat a phrase and it’s so damn clear, why I’m here.
Are you believing, the way, I’m believing?”

The song flowed, Aubrey more sure of himself, pouring his soul into the music as he ramped up to the chorus.

“And I join with you. You carry me, I carry you too.
And I love with you. You carry me, I carry you too.”

He brought it down for the final verse.

“I didn’t know, that’s all fine. ’Cause now I know, what is mine.
Anointed in your arms, I know no harm. You surround me, I’ll never be alone.
Are you believing, the way, I’m believing?”

He continued through another chorus then trailed the melody off until he let his hands rest on the keys. Aubrey hazarded a peek.
“Oh shit, Bry. What is it?”
Aubrey shot from the bench then dropped to his knees at Bryan’s feet. He’d never seen him cry before and it ripped him up. He laid a palm on his thigh and Bryan clutched his fingers in a way that broke his heart. Bryan’s eyes had scrunched closed, and he used his other hand to rub his forehead. Aubrey didn’t know what to do with a man who’d never shed tears in his presence, who was always the island of calm in the room.
“Jesus, Aubrey.” Bryan sniffed, rubbing the back of one hand under his nose, his eyes red and watery, the top lashes still sticking to the bottom ones as he blinked away more tears. “We almost lost that.”
~ ~ ~
Gut punch to the feels, right? Then, on the other end of the spectrum, I’ve used moments from my life that were pure ridiculousness, too crazy to be true. In my much younger years, I worked as a cocktail waitress at a strip club in the infamous Valley of Los Angeles—porn capital of the world. I had a good friend who was one of the dancers, but she could be…volatile. This following snippet from Strip Search (Sin City Uniforms 7), recreates a scene I witnessed between her and another dancer—only I set it in a gay strip club in Vegas:

After leaving the dressing room with promises between him and Sean to get a drink some time, Dakota ambled to the bar. Appreciative glances landed on him, but as he’d learned to do, he didn’t make eye contact. He always fixed his gaze on a spot slightly behind or to the side of whoever stared. It occurred to him that he didn’t really want to relax with his drink and trail mix in the changing area anymore—at least not while it was still occupied with a hostile stripper.
A loud commotion broke out near said changing area. Dakota’s eyes widened at the sight of Jon running through the middle of the club, his hand held high over his head, strips of glittery cloth clutched between his fingers.
“That bitch stole my underwear!”
The display was all the more highlighted by the fact that the club was between sets and that Jon’s package jiggled and joggled inside the one G-string not imprisoned by his fist. All heads turned to watch Jon’s unintentionally riveting performance. Charlie, the club owner, hurriedly lifted the hinged counter at the end of the bar then rushed toward him. It was clear the moment Jon spotted the owner because he launched into a screechy tirade.
“Do you see these?” Jon shoved the bunched-up G-strings in Charlie’s face so hard they practically went up his nose. “These are mine, you know they are!” Jon yanked out a red, rhinestone-studded thong, shaking it at Charlie. “You gave me this one after I let you fuck me the first time, remember? Remember?”
Oh dear.
Sean bolted toward the commotion, his anger clear in the way he charged at Jon. He grabbed Jon’s shoulder, but Jon jerked it away.
“Don’t touch me, you thieving whore!”
“Boys, boys, please!” The short, round Charlie held up his hands in a placating gesture. “Let’s take this to the office. I’m sure we can straighten everything out there.”
Sean held up a crumpled receipt. “I fucking bought those last week at Dark Fantasy’s lingerie store and here’s the proof.” Sean glared at Jon. “This little bastard dumped all my clothes out on the floor then grabbed my best pieces before he ran out.”
My best pieces, those are my best pieces.” Jon narrowed his eyes at Sean.Bitch.”
“In my office boys, now. Unless you both want to pack up whoever’s underwear this is then get the hell out of my club for good!”
~ ~ ~
I waited for literal decades to have the opportunity to use the line “that bitch stole my underwear” in something I wrote!

These examples are completely different in tone and content, but no less real. Yet, I sometimes find readers insisting a scenario in one of my stories is implausible, completely outlandish. What’s that other thing they say? Ah, yes. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. 😉

A Mostly Untrue Story (#hotread #amreading #gayerotica)

Everyone always asks me if my books are based on my sexcapades. And if they don't ask, they just assume it to be true. Or they assume that I'm listening to everyone's dating and sex drama and turning it into fiction. I can tell y'all that's 100% untrue.

However, with that in mind, I thought I'd use this month's theme to promote my very first erotic book! It's the one that kicked off this massive suspicion that I'm sexually insatiable in my private life.

Autumn Fire
Cameron D. James

True gay love is a fairy tale. No matter what everyone says, that’s what Dustin firmly believes. As he starts his first year of university, Dustin is happy in the closet, where he can meet his gay needs secretly through anonymous hookups.

But when Dustin has his first hookup of the university term, with a muscular dark-eyed jock in the library men’s room, he can’t help notice the deep and immediate connection he feels, one that seems almost like love. It’s over as quickly as it begins and, as all anonymous hookups go, Dustin never expects to see him again.

The term gets difficult, especially when his math class begins. Dustin destresses with more hookups, but they don’t sate him the way they used to, and he finds he cannot stop thinking about his start-of-term encounter. Soon, his academic needs outweigh the sexual, and Dustin caves in and gets a tutor.

Attractive, well-built, dark-eyed…and a jock, his new tutor, Kyle, is none other than his anonymous hookup from the men’s room. Fate seems to have connected him to the man of his dreams.

Or maybe not, since Kyle is even more in the closet than Dustin is.

This book opens with an anonymous bathroom blowjob. And that leads into the story I love to tell about it.

I was at a writing convention that featured a "live action slush" session. Writers anonymously submitted the first page of their book to the event; a reader would read the page out loud; and a panel of four editor judges would put up their hand when they would stop reading the submission. The idea is that you see where you're losing an acquisition editor's interest.

The reader read the opening paragraphs with the bathroom blowjob and everyone in the room giggled awkwardly. I didn't make it through to the end, three of the four judges put up their hands when they would have stopped reading (and once the third hand goes up, the narrator stops reading out loud).

Interestingly, Canadian superstar sci-fi author Robert J Sawyer was the last of the three to put up his hand. He had a goofy grin on his face during the blowjob.

During commentary afterward, one judge explained why she put up her hand: "There's too much angst. This whole bathroom blowjob is totally unbelievable!"

The one editor who did not put up her hand, and thus the one that would have kept reading, knew that it was my submission; she came and told me that the other editors didn't know what they were talking about. And then she later cornered that "totally unbelievable" editor and demanded of her, "You've never been in a bathroom with a gay man, have you?!"

Excerpt

Dustin stared at the sneakered foot, just visible below the stall wall, as the other man stopped at the urinal beside him. He waited for the signal — until he heard it he didn’t know if this was CollegeJock22 or some random dude who had to piss.

Time seemed to slow as he heard a zipper open. With every passing heartbeat, he waited for the telltale sound of urination ... but it wasn’t happening. The foot shifted. The pant leg lifted, briefly flashing a white sock.

The signal! Dustin shuffled his foot close to the dividing wall, so the other man could see it, and flashed his own sock.

Dustin waited ... but nothing happened. Embarrassment swelled as he realized the awkward coincidence. This was not CollegeJock22. As soon as he leaves, I’m going back to my dorm and I’m just gonna jack off, Dustin decided. This was a mistake, to meet some random guy in a random washroom.

Then the other man’s feet moved. Dustin held his breath, not daring to make even the slightest sound of exhalation. He’d not heard the man piss — and he’d not heard the man zip up again. Maybe this was CollegeJock22. He just prayed the man wasn’t fat and ugly, that his profile hadn’t been one big lie. Dustin’s heart thudded as the man stood on the other side of the stall door. As planned, Dustin had left it unlocked. It squeaked softly as the man – CollegeJock22 — nudged it open.

All his doubts vanished. Quite simply, CollegeJock22 would be the hottest guy Dustin ever hooked up with. He was the rare man that not only lived up to his profile, but surpassed it. He easily stood five foot eleven and had tight golden curls peeking out from below his ball cap. His muscled chest pulled his shirt taut beneath his open jacket and his cock ... his cock was a gorgeous piece of meat, dangling from his open fly. The thick and semi-hard dick sprouted from a dusting of fine hair.

Men in Uniform Anyone?

Hi everyone, Morticia here! I'm in the process of revising and expanding my bestselling Sin City Uniforms series that began in 2014. First one on deck, All Fired Up, is now on preorder. This installment is a combination of erotic exploration between a cop and firefighter along with a dose of mystery and danger.

Shawn can’t decide whether he wants to punch or kiss Trent. Kissing wins.

The party never ends in Las Vegas, but neither does the danger. Shawn is the new foot patrol officer on the Strip and he’s ready to take on the town and keep the peace. Once he spots hunky firefighter Trent, Shawn wonders whether he can take him on too.

Trent is dedicated to his job, built tough and a no-nonsense man of few words. At a local blood drive, Trent eyes a handsome new officer but doesn’t dare get too close. After his boyfriend’s life was snatched away in the line of fire, he couldn’t bear the agony of such a loss again.

Trent’s over-protective instincts kick in during an emergency call and he embarrasses and angers Shawn in front of their fellow officers. Too late, he realizes he’s falling for the sexy man. But has he already destroyed any chance they might have at something more?

Once they spend time together away from the stresses of their jobs, they find they’re not just compatible – they’re combustible. However, right as their relationship deepens, the threat of terror escalates on the Strip. The underground vigilante group, the Citizens Against Immorality, have raised the stakes. Will Shawn and Trent be their next targets?

Publisher Note: This book has been revised and expanded from the original edition that was published under the same title at Totally Bound Publishing in September of 2014.

Some fairy tales come true... #iloveYA #teenromance #gayteens

by Cameron D. James

My "riskiest" writing venture in 2018 was trying my hand at young adult gay romance. I had no idea what the market was like and it had been a long time since I'd written a book without sex in it. In the end, it was the wisest move I've ever made. Within two months it became my bestselling book of all time and was on three top-100 Amazon lists for three months, regularly dipping into the top-20 on two of those lists. And in all of that, I don't think I've ever outright promoted that book here -- so let's jump to it!

Blurb

Jordan Ortiz decides he can no longer hide who he truly is. He’s gay.  He comes out to his family, then he comes out to everyone, and it goes well. Like, way better than he thought possible. But that’s about where it ends. There aren’t enough out gay kids at school for him to build a queer social life or even consider the possibility of dating. For now, he’s happy to be the gay bestie for his BFF, Hannah.

Benjamin Cooper is the captain of the football team and has known Jordan for almost his whole life. And he has a secret. When they won an award at the science fair in grade nine, Jordan hugged him—and that’s when Ben realized he had feelings for Jordan. As he watches Jordan come out and flower into who he is, he can’t help but feel ashamed—ashamed at what a coward he is compared to Jordan.

When a broken leg and fair-weather friends leave Ben feeling lonely on Christmas break, he spends New Year’s Eve with Jordan, just hanging out in his basement like they used to years ago. But as the countdown to midnight happens and the ball is about to drop, Ben has something else in mind. At the stroke of midnight, he kisses Jordan.

What starts with a surprise kiss leads to a year of shared secrets, hidden love, relationship troubles, and broken hearts. Through it all, one fact holds true—Jordan loves Benjamin and Benjamin loves Jordan. But is that enough to carry them through when Ben wants to stay firmly in the closet, to the very point that this might destroy what hope they have of true love?

Excerpt

Nineteen minutes and thirty seconds.

I can’t keep counting down like this. I’m going to drive myself insane. I’m going to kill the mood if I’m glued to the clock. I hear some rustling beside me and I see that Jordan has pulled out his phone and he’s scrolling through Instagram. He suddenly angles his phone away from me.

“What?” I ask.

He hesitates, then says, “Nikki’s posting pics of her and Winston.”

“I’m not her boyfriend,” I say automatically. I’ve never actually said that to anyone. I’ve always just let people make their own assumptions and I was happy to play along with it. “We were never together.”

“Really?” Jordan asks, raising an eyebrow.

“I make her look good in photos, but I have no interest in her,” I say. I can feel a bead of sweat forming at my temple.

He scoffs. “You put on a good act then.” He goes to her profile and scrolls down until he finds pictures of me and Nikki. Together. Kissing.

“That’s exactly what it is. An act.” My heart is beating so hard it feels like it’s going to punch through my ribs.

He looks at me like he’s assessing me. “She’s gorgeous,” he says. It’s like he’s pushing me, like he knows what I want to say, even though I don’t think he has a clue. “She’s a control freak sometimes, yeah, but she’s gorgeous.”

“Not my type,” I say.

“Oh?” He shuts off his phone and tosses it on the couch between us. “What is your type?”

You. You’re my type. But can I say those words out loud? Hell no. Coward.

Instead, I turn my attention to the TV. Fourteen minutes left.

“I’m still figuring that out,” I say.

He seems to accept that as an answer, or at least accepts that I’m not ready to talk more about it. We silently watch the rest of the countdown and inwardly I’m kicking myself again — way to ruin the mood right before the hug! I’m saving my last mouthful of Bud Light for midnight, so I’m just sitting here idly holding an almost-empty can of beer.

Finally, what seems like ages later, we’re down to less than a minute. Slowly, the energy in the room warms up. I lean forward, like getting closer to the TV is going to somehow make this more exciting. Beside me, Jordan does the same.

“Ten!” he says out loud, joining the cheering people on the screen counting down.

I join in with him. “Nine! Eight! Seven! Six! Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Happy new year!”

I take that final swig of beer, letting the alcohol give me a burst of courage. I stand up and hold my arms out and Jordan stands up and comes into them. I wrap my arms around him, holding him tight.

“Happy new year,” I whisper.

“Happy new year,” he whispers back.

I know I should let go, end this hug, because it’s getting too long — it’s past the limit of how long friends hug. But I don’t want to let go.

I never want to let go.

Jordan feels so right in my arms.

But there’s something I want even more.

I loosen my arms a little bit and he backs up just an inch or two and he looks up at me. His eyes sparkle in the light and I can see a question behind those clear, brown eyes. He knows something is different.

With the alcohol pushing my decisions, I angle my head in and kiss him.

He puts his hands on my chest like he’s ready to push me away, but I keep kissing him, even though he’s not moving his lips, even though he’s as still as a statue. Panic starts to rise in me and I can feel myself starting to shake. Jordan isn’t responding.

Slow Seduction

I’d been chasing this twink for weeks now. He’d show up every Friday night at the bar, sometimes Saturday too, and I’d get hot and bothered just watching him work it out on the dance floor. With a drink in hand, a lithe body in sticking-to-his-skin sweaty clothing, and a radiant smile that beamed across the whole club, I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

But he ignored me the first few times we crossed paths. I’d watch him from my seat at the bar and sometimes he’d glance over my way mid-bump-and-grind, but the eye contact would be fleeting at best, non-existent at worst. I had a good twenty years on him — I had to be double his age — and no matter how fit I was, nubile twinks didn’t go for daddies like me. They wanted the jocks and twinks, so their sex would be like porn.

But all I wanted was to buy him a drink.

The fourth consecutive Friday of being in the club at the same time, I finally broke the ice.

“Hi,” I said as he came up beside me at the bar so he could order a Smirnoff Ice. God, he was even more delicious up close.

“Hey,” he said, barely giving me a second glance.

“You’re a good dancer.”

That made him smile — and, God, his smile was gorgeous. “Thanks, man,” he said to me, then he nodded as the bartender handed him the bottle. He took a swig and I watched his Adam’s apple bob with the swallow. “You should join us out there.”

I chuckled and looked at his small group of friends, all of whom were dancing and oblivious to my obvious attempts at picking up their friend. “I don’t know about that. I’m a terrible dancer.”

“You need one of these,” he said, tipping his drink back for another swig, “to loosen up. Just have fun!” And with that, he sauntered off, hips swaying to the music as he wove his way through the crowd and back to his friends. He looked my way a few times that night, but with eye contact that lingered.

I went back the next night and he was there too. I watched him dance — he was with only a few friends that night, but still seemed to have as much fun as when his entire group was there. He had an energy that attracted me and drew me toward him.

Fuck it, I thought, and flagged the bartender down for a Smirnoff Ice. With some liquid courage, I sauntered onto the dance floor and did my best not to look like a fool. The boy’s face lit up when he saw me join his small circle of friends. I realized then that I still didn’t know the guy’s name and he didn’t know mine. Right now, though, it didn’t matter. I took another swig of alcohol and sugar and tried to let the music flow through me, tried to match what the boy was doing.

He grabbed my free hand and helped me ease into a smoother rhythm. My heart started to beat faster, but not from the dancing — it was from the electric touch of his fingers on mine. He laughed as I made a goofy move and I started to relax a little more, overcoming the self-consciousness I fought against.

Several songs later, I was as sweaty as him. I headed back to the bar for another drink and winked at him over my shoulder as I peeled away from his group. When I got to the bar, I saw I had been victorious in my attempt — he had followed me.

“I never got your name,” I said. I held out my hand for him to shake. “I’m Tim.”

He grasped my hand and shook. My thick fingers dwarfed his fine features. “I’m Caleb.”

“Can I buy you a drink?”

We spent most of the rest of the evening chatting at the bar while his friends kept dancing. I caught them looking over at us and gossiping, but they didn’t interrupt. As we talked, I learned that he was more than just a pretty face — he was smart, studying chemical engineering.

I sat a little closer to Caleb and he seemed to like it.  When a slow song came on, I dropped my hand to my thigh and brushed my fingertips against his leg. He put his hand on mine and held it as we carried on with talking. I felt my heart race again with a new feeling — this was no longer just sexual … I wanted this boy … I wanted Caleb.

We kept holding hands long past the end of the slow song, until the bar was starting to close down. Caleb’s friends had apparently ditched him, likely thinking he was in good hands. I already like his friends, I mused. When the DJ finished his set and the house lights came on, we stood, still holding hands.

“Do you need a ride home?” I asked.

He smiled rather mischievously. “I’d love that.”

He didn’t let go of my hand, so we walked together out of the bar and toward my car. When we entered and closed the door, he pulled me close and pressed his lips hard against mine, kissing me with a passion that easily matched what I’d been feeling all evening — what I’d been feeling since I first saw him weeks ago.

Overwhelming lust consumed me and as he kissed me, I struggled with his clothes and mine, lifting up his shirt and undoing his pants and him trying to do the same to me in our frantic and chaotic moment of passion. I wrenched his hard dick out of his pants a second before he did the same to me and I went down on it, taking it in my mouth, sucking on that youthful shaft. He moaned and quivered and leaned back in his chair. He never let go of my dick; he started stroking it in time with my sucking. With his other hand, he wove his fingers through my hair. It was a tender gesture, a caring one, and it only spurred me to suck him deeper.

Maybe it was the effect of the alcohol or a sign of how horny we both were, but he came quickly, filling my mouth with his tart heat. I swallowed it all down and licked him clean. He sighed with immense satisfaction, but when I sat upright again, he immediately dove down toward my crotch, sucking on my dick like I’d sucked on his. His warm, tight, wet mouth wrapped around my shaft and slid down to the base. The muscles of his tongue and cheeks and lips and throat all rippled and moved against my sensitive skin. This boy was talented. Or maybe I was just so fucking horny. Or … it was likely both.

I had a shocking lack of stamina and seconds later I exploded in his mouth, shooting jet after jet of cum. He swallowed it all down, not letting a single drop escape. And when I had finished shooting and he had finished swallowing, he carefully licked my head and shaft, cleaning off the last bits of cum.

He sat back in his seat and we both stared out the windshield, struggling to regain our breath. Our dicks, now limp and glistening with spit, still hung out of our pants.

“That was…” I said, struggling to find an appropriate description.

“Incredible,” Caleb said. He smiled and I couldn’t help the expression of sexual triumph that was likely plain as day on my face.

After a few more moments of comfortable silence, we packed away our dicks and I started the car.

“Where am I taking you?” I asked.

He looked at me and bit his lip rather demurely. “How about your place?”

Seeyoo, Skah -- Fine, Thanks

By Kayelle Allen (Guest Blogger)

Foreign words become part of English every day. We don't look twice at words such as café or fiancé, and everyone seems to understand what a double entendre is. Yet café, fiancé, and entendre were all foreign words at one time. Alien, in fact.

When I began writing Science Fiction, I studied the concept of how to build a world. What steps did I need to take to make my worlds real to my readers? How could I blend reality and the Tarthian Empire? One way was to create at least a smattering of words in an alien language. For my Kin people, feline humanoids, I wanted something catlike, but which humans could speak. I named it Felis.

I would need it to be easy to pronounce, and not look too alien to readers. I knew that using copious amounts of alien words would result in what my mother quaintly referred to as the Wheelbarrow Syndrome. When she'd come across a foreign word that she couldn't discern from the context, if her ever-present dictionary didn't help, then she substituted the word "wheelbarrow" and kept right on going.

I began my quest for a new language by studying how languages are formed. I read articles, watched documentaries, and pored over books by other SciFi authors. Certain words and sounds are formed by the placement of tongue against teeth; that led me to wonder how fangs would affect speech. The letter B seemed the least likely to be used, based on studies I read, so I decided to leave that letter out of Felis.

Languages go two ways. They develop from society, and in turn, they change society. What would the world be like if we did not speak different languages? Certain cultures place more emphasis on family, or independence, or the assumed/assigned gender of non-living items. In French, for example, most words ending in -ble have a masculine connotation, with the exception of table.

Over the last six or seven years, I've developed well over 650 words, plus a number of phrases. I also created customs, family relationships and meanings, and a history of the people. Because the Kin were genetically designed, I used a smattering of human languages to create theirs. Words were taken from English, French, Latin, and Cherokee (Tsalagi). I used phonetic spellings, kept -ing, -ed, and the traditional English -s and -es for plurals. I then incorporated the sounds of cats in the way they form words. Words use the letter H to indicate a breathy pause, with two Hs meaning a longer pause (hheenah means sexual). Kin are never in a hurry to speak. Their language takes time, much to the chagrin of fast-talking humans.

As an aside, the human language in my books is referred to as Etymis, from the word etymology, or study of languages. In the Tarthian Empire where my current books take place, Etymis is the trade-standard tongue.

Here's a brief excerpt from the book Surrender Love, in which the hero, Luc Saint-Cyr, speaks with one of his Kin employees. Mynkoh Ceeow is the aunt of Luc's as-yet-unmet new lover. The scene portrays a traditional Kin greeting ritual.

“Welcome, Mynkoh.” Luc indicated a white leather chair and came around to stand before the matching one.

The sleek Kin female looked lithe and exotic in her tight black leather skirt and gleaming boots. She’d left her white shirt open, unfastened to a point below her breasts. She draped her black leather coat across the arm of her chair. “Hook leather” matched hair color, which, among the Kin, was an honor permitted only to warriors.

Mynkoh laid back both her ears and bowed only enough to be polite.

He bowed in return, using the ritual Felis greeting. “Dok cho, sten neeleesah?” Hello, how is your family?

After a pause, she answered with the same formality and a deeper bow. “Seeyoo, skah, yl tu?” Fine, thanks, and yours?

She lived alone, as did he with Wulf gone. Hardly an appropriate greeting for two bachelors like themselves, but it was the Kin way and she always seemed to expect it.

The enjoyment of creating an alien world, a language, and customs are some of the reasons I write Science Fiction. Developing those aspects along with a sensual plot is why I enjoy Science Fiction Romance. It's the big picture mixed with the intimate look at a character, whether human, immortal, alien, or some combination of the three.

Readers who want a deeper taste of Felis are welcome to visit my website, where a PDF lexicon of words may be downloaded. http://kayelleallen.com/Felis_Glossary.html A tour of the Tarthian Empire is also available. http://kayelleallen.com/TTC-Home.html
